Take a job at a tech company (entry-level is fine) that has a budget (and tolerance) for experimentation.
Go nuts testing various acquisition channels for their product/service, from ads to SEO to email marketing and beyond.
Within each channel you'll learn about dozens of software solutions for your digital marketing arsenal, from a/b testing tools to advertising platforms, content management systems and so forth.
In between the lines you should begin coupling creativity to every tool, idea, campaign, and strategy.
Emerging from this practice will be new acquisition channels to test and iterate, which is the essence of a rockstar digital marketer.
But it starts with a job.
